Sekhukhune United FC has confirmed the appointment of Cedric Kaze as their new head coach. Kaze, who previously co-coached Kaizer Chiefs, will take over at Sekhukhune on an initial one-year deal.
What happened?
Kaze's contract at Chiefs expired on June 30, and he will start his duties at Sekhukhune in the new week, after traveling from Canada. He has been on holiday since earlier this month, after securing his latest gig, with negotiations having started after it was confirmed that the Soweto giants had chosen not to extend his contract.
Why it matters for Sekhukhune United FC
The Burundian gaffer will bring a new technical team, including Papi Zothwane and Paulus Masehe, to Sekhukhune United FC, as they look to improve their league standing, currently 5th in Premier Soccer League with 44 points, 11W-11D-8L from 30 games, and a recent form of DDLWD. Kaze will start his new job in the MTN8 against AmaZulu FC in early August.
What comes next?
With Kaze at the helm, Sekhukhune United FC will look to close the 25-point gap behind leaders Orlando Pirates, and improve their goal difference of +5, having scored 32 goals and conceded 27 this season. Kaze's experience, having taken the Naturena-based side to a third-place finish last season, will help Sekhukhune United FC achieve their goals, as they look to make a strong start to the new season, with their first match against AmaZulu FC just around the corner.
